Pemaraal’s Galileo II(a) Adapter for Sony H7, H9 and H50

Overview
This fully assembled adapter consists of 3 main parts: an inner tube, an outer tube and a flange assembly press fit into the outer tube. The inner tube attaches to the camera. The flange assembly in the outer tube accepts 58mm accessories such as lens caps, step-rings, filters and conversion lenses. Please read carefully and become familiar with the mounting, operating and precautionary instructions before using.

Installation
  1. Turn off the camera. Remove the lens cap. The adapter must be orientated as shown, with the adapter fully extended.
  2. Securely grasp the camera with one hand, the inner tube with the other hand and rotate the inner tube carefully into the mounting threads of the camera. Tighten the inner tube firmly but not excessively.
  3. Install 58mm accessories to the outer tube. When doing so, make sure the camera is powered off and securely grasp the camera and outer tube.
Operation
Operation is very simple. When the camera is powered on, the lens will extend outward. As the operator zooms to full tele the lens housing will strike the bumper flange of the outer tube and extend the adapter with it. When the adapter is fully extended the lens housing will contact the rubber splines* in the flange, locking the outer tube to the lens housing. The resulting connection allows the adapter to retract back with the camera lens. When the camera is powered off, the lens releases itself from the adapter and retracts fully into the camera body.

*The rubber splines used in this adapter should last the life of the adapter. If a spline becomes worn or lost a replacement set is available for a small fee to cover postage.

Precautions when using a teleconverter or heavy macro lens: Never let the camera’s zoom mechanism extend or retract the adapter when a heavy teleconverter lens is attached to the adapter. While it is conceivable that one can support the weight of the teleconverter with the free hand, installing the optional Galileo II(a) Collar is strongly recommended.

Precautions when using a wide-angle lens: Never let the camera’s zoom mechanism extend or retract the adapter when a heavy wide angle lens is attached to the adapter. Use the lens as designed, i.e. at full wide angle only. The collar is not required if you follow this rule.

About the Galileo II(a) Collar: The Collar serves a dual purpose: (a) it locks the adapter in the extended position, making it rigid to keep the teleconverter on the same horizontal plane as the camera lens and (b) it supports the weight of the teleconverter. To install the Collar, simply slip the Collar over the inner tube so that it seats itself between the camera barrel and the rear of the outer tube. The collar can be conveniently stored on the camera barrel when not in use.

IMPORTANT: Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the camera.
